The Canadian Silver Maple Leaf Bullion Coin was launched by the Royal Canadian Mint in 1988 and is issued yearly. Containing one ounce of 99.99% fine silver, they are the purist silver legal tender coins in the world, and guaranteed by the Government of Canada for weight and purity. They are also among the most recognized coins worldwide.

The Silver Maple Leaf came into being due to the success the Gold Maple Leaf, and carries the same obverse (front) and reverse (back) designs.

The obverse features a bust of Queen Elizabeth II, whose design changed in 1990 to feature a mature portrait of the Queen. In both versions, her name ('ELIZABETH II') appears at top and the denomination of the coin and the date of issue rest underneath the bust.

The coin's reverse depicts a Maple Leaf, the national symbol of Canada and from which the coin derives its name. The reverse also lists the name of the country and the amount and purity of the silver.

The production level each year is based on demand.

Silver Maple Leaf coins come in tubes of 25 pieces. Single coins can also be ordered.
